The Conference used to meet thrice a year as a general assembly from 1996 to 2006. Now it is twice a year. So far there have been 32 assemblies since 1996. Every assembly is preceded by the preparatory meeting of the Tripartite Commission.

            The Conference has organized in August of 2003 in Manila the First Asian Bishops-Ulama Conference attended by their counterparts from 19 countries. This was followed up by IMBUN or Indonesia-Mindanao Network, a BUC sponsored meeting in pursuance of one of the Resolutions of the first Asian Assembly which was to spread or replicate the BUC in other countries.
